See ya Werner…think he might have been the only person in the world that thought buying Monsanto was a good idea.

You know this will go on for years. Anyone that took the "payout" will at least get something, although no where near where it should be. A million a piece should have been the starting point withs adds from there. Even at a million, the plaintiff would end up with maybe $20K.

You are right; the settlement offers have not amounted to much for the individual plaintiffs.

A lot less! Like $10K BEFORE attorney cut minus expenses and medical reimbursement.

Gosh, I had not heard of a settlement offer that low! I've heard from many plaintiffs whose offers have ranged from about $50,000 to $150,000, which are then reduced by 50 pct or more due to attorneys fees, and medical insurance reimbursement.

We were offered a settlement based on a point system. My husband died in 2001. We were assigned a base of $10K from which attorney fees (plus expenses plus medical liens, if any) will be deducted. We are asked to accept offer, amount unknown, which may be nothing. I am 81 (a widow). Our case is included in a group lawsuit in Missouri. No court date.

Monsanto continues to punish innocent victims.

Attorney fees should not exceed 40% and I believe the any settlements awarded are not subject to tax for the plaintiff, however, the 30% to 40% collected by law firms would like be taxed….have to refer to your contract whether that comes out of the plaintiff settlement.

Point being I believe a $1M settlement would end up roughly around $500 to $600K. But that’s still not enough, however, I would assume that it’s likely contingent on the parameters surrounding each case.

I don’t see a scenario with said settlement amount ending with the plaintiff only getting $20K.

the first lawsuit was awarded $285M which would have netted him approximately $22M

The $285 million was cut upon appeal

to $20.5 million before taxes, fees and insurance reductions. But- that was not was a settlement; that was a jury award. The settlements are entirely different.
